Descanso para palillos chinos / Chopstick Rest

by  Gerardo

Among Japanese eating customs people avoid touching the table with the tips of their chopsticks or leaving them inside a bowl. Instead, the tips are placed in a piece of tableware called "chopstick rest" or hashioki.

That's why I created this model which complemented my Bento box (with triangular divisions); in the photo of that box you can see this chopstick rest. There already exists a variety of chopstick rests in origami using the chopsticks' wrapper, but I wanted to create my own version. My intention was to create a fallproof rest; that's the reason for the long tips in each end of the rest.

It's a very simple and useful model. Hopefully you'll remember it the next time that you order sushi or some other eastern dish. As usual, please thank Roxanne Smith for helping me with the revision of the photo-diagrams, ok?

If you fold it, I only ask you to please send me pictures to gerardo(a)neorigami.com

Hi Charlotte. Thank you very much for your kind words. I'm really flattered : )

Did you type the username and password? They are both the same for everyone who wants to open a PDF file from Neorigami, and both the username and password are actually the same one word. You'll find it under the how-to-fold-button which is around the middle of this page.

Hope this helps. Please send me a picture when you fold it ; )

No, they are not. They were available here, but since this site is now dead, they
    are no longer available.
